Most people don't pay much attention to what their drains are doing for us beneath the surface. That is until something starts to go wrong. Then it's obvious just how important a drainage system actually is. When you need drain repair, our experienced engineers have the skills, experience, and specialist equipment to diagnose and fix your damaged drain or pipes.
It can sometimes be quite difficult to know what's causing your drainage problems. Are they stemming from simple blocked drains? Or is a more serious problem like damaged or collapsed drains to blame?
If you have repeatedly unblock your drains only to find them quickly filling up again, this suggests that the blocked drain is being triggered by damage. This could be anything from cracked pipes to a collapsed drain, and it is at this point that bringing in local engineers to diagnose the problem is important.
The first step to fixing a drainage system is to properly diagnose the problem. Very often, it can be difficult to tell the difference between a blocked drain and a damaged drain simply based on how the system is behaving.
In both cases, you might see sewage backups or overflowing toilets and slow drainage. The difference is that with a blocked drain, once the blockages are cleared the system will go back to normal.
If it hasn't and it seems as though there is damage somewhere in the system, our engineers will be able to diagnose the problem, usually with minimal disruption. In the past, it was necessary to excavate the system to find the source of the damage, but that isn't usually necessary anymore.
Instead, we use CCTV surveys to precisely locate the damage that is causing the drainage issues. A CCTV survey uses a camera fed through the drain pipe so that the engineer can see exactly where the damage is.
Once the damage has been assessed, then our local engineer will be able to give you expert advice about the drain repair cost and the exact plan for how to move forward.
Depending on the location and the extent of the damage, there are a few different drain repair methods that can be used. The drain repair cost will vary depending on how much work needs to be done.
Thankfully, a lot of the time your drain repair can be completed without any need for digging out a large section of the drainage system. These no-dig drain repairs mean that localised structural repairs can be achieved as a more cost-effective solution.
Drain relining is the perfect solution to most drain repair issues. With drain relining, you are essentially creating new pipes within the drain pipes that are already in place, without any need to dig out the pipes.
Epoxy resin fibreglass matting is fed through the pipe and then cured in place using either heat or UV light. Any cracks, open joints, or other damage in the pipe will be completely sealed by the new resin pipe and the new pipe will last for up to 50 years.
Our professional engineers are highly trained in drain relining techniques and do a fantastic job of fixing your damaged drains, the first time.
Often, drain damage is caused by tree roots that have grown through small cracks in the pipes. We can use a range of different techniques to remove the roots, without the need to do any digging. After the roots are removed, drain relining will stop any more roots from entering the system.
This can be a complex job but our professional and highly-trained engineers will use the best of the technology available to understand the root situation and to come up with a plan for how to remove them and to prevent them from entering the drain pipe again in the future.
Sometimes, a full drain relining isn't necessary. Drain patch repairs are the best solution if there is only a small amount of damage to one section of the drain pipe. It uses the same technique as a full drain relining but on only a small section.
Patch repairs will lower the overall drain repair cost and they can be less disruptive than a full relining. The use of CCTV technology can precisely pinpoint the location of the damage so that the correct section can have a patch repair applied.
This solution, of course, isn't available for all situations but you can be sure that when it is a viable solution, our engineers will use it.
Drain relining and patch liners are going to be the desired solution a lot of the time because they involve minimal disruption and are most cost-effective. On some occasions, however, these solutions just won't be able to fix the damage to your drainage system.
In cases where there is complete drain collapse, for example, the only drain repair solution is to excavate and replace the damaged pipes and drains. Some burst pipes may be so warped and damaged that they can't effectively be relined, and in this case, a full dig is going to be necessary.
If you do need a full drain repair due to serious damage, our fully trained and experienced team of engineers will keep you informed from start to finish of the project of the repair cost and time needed to complete the job. And they will complete the work to the very highest of professional standards.
Sometimes, it turns out that no drain pipe repair is needed. If you are just dealing with a severe blockage, we can use a variety of techniques, including drain jetting and mechanical removal, to clear your drains of blockages quickly and efficiently.
